Is Photojima Really Free?

Yes! Photojima has a FREE account which provides all the tools you need to get you sharing privately with your friends and family and make people happy. With your personal free account you can upload up to 300 megabytes a month and connect as many friends to your albums as you like.

How Many Photo Can I Store?

This depends on what account you chooser. Our free accounts allow up to 300 megabytes a month. Pro accounts give you 20 gigabytes total and Ultimate accounts give you 40 gigabytes.

What's the Difference Between PRO and Free Accounts?

The main difference is in the daily and monthly upload limits and how much you can store. With a PRO account you can store up to 20 gigabytes and you are not limited to how many uploads you can do per day. PRO users also take advantage of ad free browsing giving them more work area and a better viewing experience

What Happens if I Upgrade From Free to Pro? Do I Need to Upload My Pictures Again?

No! While you are on a FREE account we take back-up copies of your uploads for you and keep them safe. When you decide to go PRO you will have access to all the original pictures you have uploaded so far.

Who Owns the Pictures I Upload?

You of course! Your pictures are always yours. You maintain ownership and can access or remove your pictures as you please. Photojima will never 'image jack' your pictures.

Who Can Use the Site?

Who is a Visitors , Community Members and Corporate Members :

If you're just browsing the Site and haven't registered with us, you're a "Visitor." If you've gone through the steps to register  as an individual with us, you're a "Community Member." If you have registered your company with us, you’re a Business Member   Albeit, you're a Visitor or a Member, we think of you as a "User." Unfortunately, Membership is void where prohibited, so you might not be able to join.

What That Means To You...

Some of the Photojima  Services are available only to its Community Members, while others are available  only to Business Members and yet other  services are available to all Users.

And What That Means To Photojima...
    You're eligible to be a Member because you've assured us that:
  • What you told us during registering as a Member was true;
  • You've given us a valid email address;
  • You have a valid civic address location;
  • You are 14 years of age or older;
  • You'll notify us if something changes;
  • You're not breaking any laws when you use the Photojima Services; and
What type of Member

  • If you are an individual  you are eligible to be a Community Member
  • If you are company  you are eligible to be a Business Member

Basics

Starting Your First Island

Getting your first 'Island' ready is simple. Once Logged in, Photojima will guide you to a page so you can name your island, write a short description or choose if you want to share the island to the public. If you do not create your first island at this point simply click "Islands" from your menu or click your name on the top right of the screen to return.

Uploading to Your Island

Once you have created your first island you will be directed to a page to start uploading. To upload to islands on subsequent visits, hover over the island you wish to upload to and click 'upload' on the menu that appears.

    Using the Uploader.
  • Click 'Choose File' : This will open a window, browse to the pictures you want to upload and while holding the 'ctrl' key, click on as many pictures as you want then click 'open'.
  • Next click the 'Upload' button and Photojima will begin to upload all your great pictures. When it's done, simply click the 'My Islands' button to go see them.
*Upload like a Pro Tip* if you want to choose a whole group of pictures, hold the 'shift' key, click the first picture then the last picture. Doing this will choose all the pictures in between.
Using Your Island Page

Learning how to use a new service is never easy. We have tried to keep ours as simple as possible. The Picture Manager is the place to get things done so let's have a look at what we have

    The Top Menu
  • "Your Islands" show all the Islands you have created
  • "Connected Islands" shows Islands which friends have shared with you
  • "Grid" shows your islands in a grid of thumbnails. This is the default view
  • "Edit" shows your islands in a list with buttons to 'edit', 'upload' or 'connect friends'
  • "Add an Island" lets your create a new Island.
    In Grid View. Hover over the Island to reveal it's menu
  • "View Slide Show" open the Island in a full screen slide show. Here you can add comments while viewing.
  • "open" show all pictures within this Island
  • "upload" takes you to an upload page to upload to this Island
  • "share" takes you to 'Connect Friends' so you can connect friends to this Island
  • "gear icon" takes you to a page where you can delete this Island and it's content
    In Edit View. Hover over the Island to reveal it's menu
  • "Edit" lets you add or change title and description for this Island
  • "Upload" takes you to an upload page to upload to this Island
  • "Connect friends" takes you to 'Connect Friends' so you can connect friends to this Island
Viewing Pictures on Your Island

There are two ways to view pictures on your Island. Slideshow and Standard.

    Slideshows are launched when you hover over an Island and click 'View Slideshow'. While in Slideshow mode you can
  • Add comments while viewing pictures.
  • View the stories about pictures.
  • Manually change slides or turn it on auto.
  • View pictures in full screen

  • Click pictures to expand them for better viewing
  • Quickly view all the pictures on an Island
Sharing Your Island

To share your 'Island', first you need to have some friends to share with. See 'Making Friends' to find out more on how to do this. Once you have someone to share with go to 'Connect Friends' from your menu. Here you will see three panels. 

The first panel is a list of your Islands. The second and third panel will change as we go along.

  • First click on the Island you want to manage. A new panel will appear which shows all your friends that are not yet connected to your Island
  • Next click on the friends you wish to connect. This will move the friend to the list of connected friends and they will be able to view your island. There are more options such as allowing a friend to upload to your Island. See the 'Advanced Sharing Options' section to learn how
Advanced Sharing Options

Not only can a friend view your pictures on your Island, they can also contribute or even help you manage it if you are busy. To do this, go to Connect Friends' ( see the above 'Sharing your Island' section for info on how to use this if you don't already know)

Click on the Island you want to manage and in the list of connected friends use the button called 'more options'. This will show a new menu. Clicking 'Set to Contributor ' will allow the friends to upload to the Island and 'Set to Manager' will allow them to help you manage your Island.

Adding Titles and Stories to Pictures

Titles and stories are shown over the image when viewed in a slide show and is a great way to get friends talking about pictures. You can add titles and stories quickly and easily.

  • Go to 'Islands' from the menu.
  • Hover over an Islands and select 'open' to view the pictures.
  • Click 'edit' from the menu bar. This will show the pictures in a list
  • Hover the mouse over the list then click 'edit'
  • Add your title and story then click 'save'

Finding it hard to write about the picture? Is the thumbnail too small to see what the picture is about? Try this! While in edit mode, click on the thumbnail to expand the picture an give yourself a quick reminder. Click the 'X' to put the picture back and continue.

Share to the Public

Photojima also has a fun and inspiring public community. To get your pictures to the public you first have to tell us which Islands you would like to use. To do this go to Islands'.

  • Next, Click the 'edit'. button. Edit mode will show your islands in a list.
  • Hover the mouse over the list to reveal menu buttons. Select "edit" .
  • Click 'Make Public'

Doing this will now make the island available for anyone to view on the "Explore" page. It will also remove any connected friends. It is possible to make the island private again by un-checking 'Make Public' however you must connect your friends once again.

Social Basics

Inviting Friends

Inviting friends has never been easier. The Photojima invite tool can connect to pretty much any of your email contact lists ( or Facebook, with a little work around :).

  • First, Choose "Invite Friends" from the left side menu to open our invite tool.
  • Next choose the contact list you want to get friends from. You can use more then one
  • After you have added your friends you can add a personal message. Then Click 'Send'

Here we would like to point out some fun features of the invite tool. If you return to the invite page you will notice that the friends you invited are now shown in a list at the top of the tool. This list shows which friends have not yet come to Photojima. At any time, you can click on any remaining friends to send them a reminder email just like that.

Finding Friends

To search for friends go to "Find Friends" from the  menu. You can search by name, email address or a range of other options.

Making Friends

To add a person as a friend is simple. You can search for people you know by going to 'Find Friends' then click 'Add as Friend'. You can also use the Add as Friend button wherever you find a profile such as when viewing public pictures. Clicking Add as Friend will send a request to the person. Once they have  accepted your request they will appear in your list of friends.

Checking Messages and Notifications

When you have received a new message or a notification such as a friends request you will see a badge appear on the top right of the page beside your user name. Clicking the badge will send you to your inbox. The letter icon represents a new message and the exclamation point icon represents a new notification

Managing Islands & Content

Edit an Island Title & Description

Titles and are shown under the Island thumbnail when viewed from the 'Islands' page. You can add titles and descriptions quickly and easily.

  • Go to 'Islands' from the menu.
  • Click 'edit' from the menu bar. This will show the islands in a list
  • Hover the mouse over the list then click 'edit'
  • Add your title and story then click 'save'

Moving Pictures to a Different Island

If you wish to move a picture to a different Island 

  • Go to 'Islands' from the menu.
  • Hover over an Islands and select 'open' to view the pictures.
  • Hover over a picture and select the gear icon on the top right.
  • Click 'Move to different Island"
  • Select the destination Island from the list
Deleting Pictures or Islands

If you wish to delete a picture from an Island

  • Go to 'Islands' from the menu.
  • Hover over an Islands and select 'open' to view the pictures.
  • Hover over a picture and select the gear icon on the top right.
  • Click 'Delete this Picture'

If you wish to delete an Island ( Note that deleting an Island will delete all the content in the Island )

  • Go to 'Islands' from the menu.
  • Hover over an Islands and select the gear icon.
  • Click 'Delete this Island" 

You have started a viewing list.    or click the 'x' to clear it.
